Last night: 17 for 19, 182 yards, 1 TDLast 3 games: 35 for 39, 355 yards, 1 TD/0 INT
Preseason or not, Drew Brees looks prepared to best his All-Pro season from a year ago. This hasn't exactly been a Brady Quinn dink and dunk against the defensive scraps, either. Brees has been extremely sharp, as has the rest of the first string Saints O. I know it's mandatory to draft Peyton Manning as the first QB, but I'm more inclined to wait a few picks and take Drew at this stage. He's going to accumulate better numbers than last year and match Peyton.
A few other comments on last night's preseason teams:
Brodie Croyle is not the future QB for Kansas City, nor is he an NFL starting QB. I said this last spring before the NFL Draft, when urging the Chiefs to strongly consider drafting this position early. They didn't, and now they've got a major question mark at the present time and for the future. Brodie's wife Kelli is extremely hot, 5 for 17 for 45 yards and an interception is not. Chiefs better hope the O-Line opens some holes for Larry Johnson.
Isn't it clear to everyone but the Jaguars that David Garrard should start at QB?
I'm already feeling bad for Brett Favre, but it was his choice to come back. I've got my big fantasy football keeper draft tomorrow, looking forward to seeing Brandon Jackson drafted way too early. Probably by me.
