Blog Photo - Justin Blackmon gets four-game suspensionJacksonville Jaguars' wide receiver Justin Blackmon has a history of off-field issues (two DUI's), but has never gotten in trouble while signed with an NFL team - that is, until today. The NFL has suspended Blackmon for the first four games of the 2013 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The specifics of the violation are unknown, but it is a matter unrelated to Blackmon's previous DUI's.

Whatever Blackmon did, it was a boneheaded move on his part for several reasons. Obviously, any time a player gets suspended, it was a bad move on the player's part, but Blackmon has more to lose than four game checks. Blackmon's contract states that if he ever gets suspended, all of his post-signing bonus guaranteed money is wiped away.

Blackmon will miss games against the Chiefs, Raiders, Seahawks, and Colts. He will be eligible to return October 6 against the Rams.

The Jaguars will now have to look for someone else to start opposite Cecil Shorts in their offense. As of now, it appears that player will be Mohamed Massaquoi - a significant downgrade - while Jordan Shipley will get snaps in the slot.

This suspension obviously drags down Blackmon's fantasy potential quite a bit, and he already would have been a shaky pick due to the Jaguars' poor quarterback situation. I imagine I'll let someone else take him when my fantasy draft comes around.

I was seriously pi$$ed when the Rams didn't draft Blackmon.  Now, I'm guessing Jeff Fisher knew what he was doing
