Juventus on the brink of signing in former Chelsea star Didier Drogba
Juventus have confirmed transfer interest in the former Chelsea star Didier Drogba. The Old Lady of Turin plans on signing in the unsettled Shanghai Shenhua striker, who moved out of Stamford Bridge last summer.
The Serie A leaders are keen on bolstering their attacking line during the winter transfer window. Juventus have already launched a campaign to sign in Athletic Bilbao’s coveted striker Fernando Llorente. The Italian outfit can sign him at a cut-price during this fall or get him for free next summer.
The Bianconeri are without the services of Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner, who is suffering from a long term injury. Following the shocking defeat to Sampdoria at home, the Juventus board is eager to increase options in their attack force.
The man responsible for player recruitment at Juventus is Beppe Marotta, also the director general of the club. In a recent television show, Domenica Sportiva, Beppe Marotta confessed Juventus had inquired about the availability of Didier Drogba.
“Drogba? We are always making enquiries and we have made one for him,” Beppe Marotta said.
“We have asked about his availability and after that we will look at the financial aspects and talk to the coach.”
Beppe Marotta’s statements arrive to the scene after Juventus manager Antonio Conte dismissed rumors of bringing in Didier Drogba. There are reports arriving from China that suggest Didier Drogba is ready to rip apart his two-and-a-half year contract with Shanghai Shenhua for a move to Juventus or AC Milan.
AC Milan has been on the lookout for Didier Drogba for a while now, although they haven’t come up with an official bid. A person claiming to be Didier Drogba’s agent has announced that Didier Drogba will be out of China this season.
Such claims have been ridiculed by Didier Drogba’s former teammates and former associates. Reports from London suggest Didier Drogba, who trained with the Chelsea squad in order to prepare for the African Nations Cup, is going to see out his contract with Shanghai Shenhua.
However, if Didier Drogba hands in a transfer request he will probably sent on loan to Juventus for the rest of the season.
