About Me:
I'm a wise ass so much of the time that most people have a hard time figuring when I'm serious .... especially online! The good thing is it's almost impossible to offend me and I appreciate witty comebacks ... from anyone! Especially if I can borrow them and use em against one of my buds the next time we're out in the pub or wherever.
Almost nobody would look at this headline and say, "Oh cool, a blog about Ken Griffey Jr hitting his 600th homerun," and in my mind that's just sad!
Our boyhood heros are proving more and more to be cheaters, liars, theives, turncoats or a combination of one or more of those things, so why aren't we being swarmed with the knowledge of at least one "good" feat in professional sports? Make that, one "great" feat in professional sports!
Am I missing something? Are Ken Griffey Jr's statistics tainted? Did he gamble on sports? Did he have an affair with an adolescent? Did he inject some form of hormone or steroid that we don't know about? Did he run some illegal operation from his home that nobody wants to talk about? WHAT??? What am I missing???
I'm almost ashamed to admit that I had absolutely no idea Jr was over 500 homeruns already. He's been hurt for so long I stopped looking at his stats, because I never wanted to know how his stats stacked up against the other Former/Future HOF'ers. I just enjoyed watching his swing! He gives credit where credit is due, he shows respect for everyone around him, he's loved around the league and the nation ... and yet ... he gets snubbed??
It's a shame journalists go so far out of their way to "find the cheaters" in baseball ... that they ignore, almost entirely, one of the greatest players the sport has ever seen!
Once again, I say, "BOOOO," to the majority of the press covering baseball, to news stations, and to the leadership of MLB ... if for nothing else, for failing to pay a little bit of respect to a man who will almost undoubtedly go down in the record books without an asterisk next to his name!
I reckon there's one wouldn't make as much money talking about good people accomplishing great things!

React to the best sports news from around the Web.
