Kansas City Chiefs losing it after three back to back losses
The Chiefs seemed to have it all when the season started as they won one game after the other. They were undefeated at 9-0, which was a shocking development for a team that ended the previous season 2-14. The Chiefs had a solid defence which was a headache for any team that faced them. They had limited the teams to an average of 13.3 points a game and the offense was doing equally well, executing each play with near flawless perfection.
And then everything changed three weeks ago.
After losing twice to the Broncos and once to the San Diego Chargers, the Chiefs have lost three consecutive games and they don’t know what happened. They have lost the spectacular lead they had for the AFC West. They were revered for being a standout to win 9 consecutive wins with zero losses and will now be remembered for winning 9 games and then throwing it all away by losing three back to back games.
Over the course of the bye week, the Chiefs will need to do a serious check about what went wrong. Head coach Andy Reid said that he was trying to get the team back in its former shape.
"I told the team this isn't college football. This isn't the end of the season," Reid said. "Now it's important that we get ourselves back and ready to go and finish the season like we're capable of doing, and our guys, coaches and players, will do that."
Chiefs safety Kendrick Lewis said that other teams were making the right plays in critical moments which were the key to winning games and downfall of the Chiefs winning streak.
"They've been coming out with game plans, and they're making plays when it counts," Lewis said. "When the game is on the line, they're making it count."
Chiefs safety Eric Berry said that the team would have to get back up and not be demoralized by the losses. They needed to start winning again.
"We just have to play ball. Nobody can have their head down,” Berry said. “It was a tough game, and they happen when you play against a good football team. We just have to go in with a sense of urgency and get some things done."
