Former Miami (Oh.) star WR transferring to Kansas
Harwell, a first-team All-MAC selection, put up huge numbers during his three-year stint in Oxford. Despite an injury that kept him out of three games in 2012, the Texas native caught 229 passes for 3,166 yards and 23 touchdowns with current Denver Broncos quarterback Zac Dysert under center.
Thanks to the under-graduate transfer rule, Harwell will be able to play immediately for Kansas without having to sit out a year—that is, if he can complete his degree before August. His problematic past may prove as a difficult endeavor.
Either way, the Jayhawks are getting a talent at the receiver position that they haven't had since Dezmon Briscoe from 2007-09. No receiver on the returning roster had more than 17 receptions last season.
Harwell is Miami's second-leading career receptions and yards leader, and third in receiving touchdowns.
