Kansas vs. Detroit [Game info and open thread]
Kansas (27-6) won the Big 12 regular season for the eighth consecutive season in what might have been Bill Self's best coaching job in Lawrence. The cupboard seemed pretty bare before the season started, but Self turned junior forward Thomas Robinson into a National Player of the Year candidate who can dominate the game on both ends. Coupled with enigmatic senior point guard Tyshawn Taylor, Kansas has one of the top one-two punches in the nation. The Jayhawks' biggest concern is depth, as only seven players play double-digit minutes for Self. Kansas is one of the more battle-tested teams in the nation with non-conference wins over Georgetown, Long Beach State, Ohio State, South Florida as well as losses to Kentucky, Duke and Davidson.
The Titans (22-13) finished third in the Horizon League regular season, but won the conference tournament to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. While Detroit didn't beat any NCAA Tournament teams in the regular season, but did play both Notre Dame and Alabama very close. The Titans' best player is sophomore guard Ray McCallum who averages 15.6 points per game.
