Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema admits his future is uncertain at the Bernabeu, but he would like to continue playing under a Los Blancos jersey for many years to come. The rumor mill indicated towards a summer move for Benzema last year; as interest in European circles increased.
 
Arsenal came closest to making a swoop for the France international. The negotiations were reportedly in their advance stages with the transfer fee becoming the only remaining obstacle both clubs had to jump over.
 
Benzema’s dip in form last year invited many critics to draw criticism on the 26-year-old striker and soon after the summer transfer window opened Benzema found himself up for sale. Apparently the former Lyon striker was ready to move away from the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and into the Emirates, although many Madridsta were against the materialization of this move.
 
Now, with rejuvenated form Benzema has proved his talents and worth to Real Madrid once again. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti and president Florentino Perez now look to him as the future of the club.
 
In a recent interview to Telefoot, Benzema revealed that his loyalty was with the Madridsta and he desired to stay with “the best club in the world” as long as he could.
 
“I am here for the moment,” Benzema said. “We will see if I stay for my whole career but, for me, Madrid is the best club in the world. There is nothing higher. I have been playing at Madrid for five years, which shows that I am not bad as a footballer.”
 
Benzema, who was bought by Real Madrid from Lyon in 2009 for 35 million Euros, also admitted that he had experienced a slump of form for both Real Madrid and France. The Frenchman said that even when he was out of form he never gave up hope and continued to strive for excellence.
 
With 21 goals in all competitions Benzema insists he persevered in bringing out his best form at Real Madrid.
 
“I had difficult moments with the club and with the national team,” Benzema said. “But I never dropped my hands, and I kept working. I always had confidence in myself. In the end, this will be a good year.”
 
Benzema further revealed that compatriot and Real Madrid’s assistant coach Zinedine Zidane played a big role in the success and good form he has attained at the club. Benzema said that the legendary Real Madrid midfielder had an inspiring influence on him and that he had always been there to lend help and advice.
