Kawhi Leonard Fractures Hand
The San Antonio Spurs lost Kawhi Leonard Wednesday evening in the second quarter against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Leonard fractured his right shooting hand and returned to the bench in the second half with a soft cast.
With Danny Green and Tiago Splitter already out, the injury to Kawhi Leonard is an even bigger blow.
"It's tough, we're dropping like flies right now,'' said Tim Duncan. "Losing Kawhi was huge, especially in a game like tonight.'' Fellow teammate Manu Ginobili said, "Kawhi's news is way tougher than the loss."
Earlier this season, Danny Green also suffered a fractured hand which held him out one month. In all likelihood, this may be the same amount of time Leonard will be out as well.
Tony Parker said that the injury to Kawhi “Is a big loss for us. We are already down Tiago and Danny, but everyone goes through injuries and we have to deal with it. Other guys are going to have to step up, but we just have to keep playing.''
Leonard will be re-evaluated by a hand specialist on Thursday and will then be given a timetable for his return.
