Indians catcher Kelly Shoppach had a game for the ages. 5 extra base hits, including 2 HR, 3 doubles and 3 RBI, but it wasn't enough, as the Tigers beat the Indians 14-12 in 13 innings, after coming back from a 7-run deficit.Since I'm a Red Sox fan, I'd like to take this moment to point out the fact that Shoppach was once a prospect in the Red Sox' system. He was traded, along with Andy Marte, for Coco Crisp, who is now riding the pine for the Sox. Imagine a Sox infield of Shoppach, Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, Jed Lowrie and Marte... that is just an All Star team waiting to happen... for the next 10 years. Add that to Jacoby Ellsbury and Jeremy Hermida (if the Manny rumors have any truth to them), and the Sox would have had a disgustingly talented and young lineup. But I'll stop my homer ramblings for now... that was just some food for thought.
