Ken Griffey Jr Injured (Cut / Paste): Almost Made it Through the Season
READ MORE:

Almost.

Ken Griffey Junior was schedule to take today off, and only play a few times over the final week, but once again his season will end with an injury.
Ken Griffey Jr. was due to get a day off today. It came one day too late. Griffey suffered a lower abdominal strain as he prepared to make a throw in the eighth inning of the Reds' 3-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field Wednesday night.

"Oddly enough, I was going to give him (today) off," Reds manager Pete Mackanin said.
The injury looked worse (hopefully) than it actually was. I think we were all rooting for Junior to go on one more HR run to finish the season. We'll have to wait until next April for 600.

This reminds why I think Griffey might be one of the few players who would actually still shock me if I found out he used steroids. Just imagine how good his numbers could be if he juiced and was to keep himself from getting injuried so often.

Lower abdominal strain?  Are they sure?  This is like the one time I saw Prior get hit in his man region with a ball and Bob Brenly said he got hit in his elbow.

Griffey was not grabbing his lower ab region, no, he was grabbing quite a bit lower.

And man, it looked like it hurt!

Agreed ... I'm not entirely sure what qualifies as 'lower abdomen' but whatever Griffey injured was below the belt and caused a noticeable limp. Reminded me of Nomar's awful tear.

Good call.  I actually said the same thing when I saw him rolling around on the ground.  I immediately thought of Mr. Mia Hamm.

It's like wrestling when they take a knee to the "solar plexus".

Griffey was quoted as saying that it felt like, "someone bungie jumped off his right nut"

OUCH!!!!!

At least he played most of the season and played well.
