Kevin Durant Solidifies Rookie of the Year Award with 42 Point Finale
4/17/08
Not all rookies ended their season like Corey Brewer. At one point during the season the NBA Rookie of the Year race was in doubt. Al Horford was steadily dropping double-doubles and Luis Scola was more than filling in for Yao Ming.
Then Kevin Durant went and dropped three 30+ point games in this final month with a 42-point finale last night. Better yet, it was done on 18-for-25 shooting. Rookie of the year is his. Final stats: 20.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.4 apg and 43% shooting.
Horford fulfilled his promise as the 3rd overall pick averaging 10.2 ppg and 9.7 rebounds.
Jamario Moon definitely gets the best value draft pick, by which I mean, he wasn't drafted at all. The Raptors got an overall electrifying game to go with eight points and six rebounds.
Busts? It's way too early obviously, but Brandan Wright and Acie Law, both top 11 picks, provided very, very little.
Has Kevin Durant met your expectations? Will he still be the best of this class in five years?
