Whether it's time or money, there are many star athletes who give back to the community in ways that the common person simply can't do.

The latest example of extreme philanthropy is courtesy of Kevin Durant, who is donating one million dollars to the American Red Cross, as they help with recovery efforts following the devastating tornados that ripped through Oklahoma.

You often hear people talk about helping out and making a difference, but it's rare to see someone step up and make a huge donation like this.

The word "hero" is thrown around a lot, but Kevin Durant is actually living up to it.
