After Wednesday nights game against the Chicago Bulls, Kevin Garnett inexplicably said that this weekends All Star Game was definitely his last.
“This is definitely my last All-Star Game,” Garnett said. “Ya’ll don’t know what I know.”
No one is really sure what KG meant when he said that this was his last All Star Game, but he couldn’t have meant that he could no longer play at an All Star level. KG was an obvious choice for the All Star team this year and there is no reason why he shouldn’t be on the All Star team again next year.
The only other reason why this year would be his last All Star game is because KG may finally be hinting at retirement. Garnett has impressively made the All Star team every year since he was twenty years old, has won a NBA championship, and even an Olympic Gold Medal, so it's quite possible that KG may finally have had his fill of basketball.
And with Rondo tearing his ACL, it’s very possible that Rondo could miss the entire season next year. While Rondo said that he would be ready by the start of next season, there is no reason to believe he could return so early when Derrick Rose had the same injury last year and has still yet to play.
With that in mind, is it possible that KG is hinting at retirement?
