Will Kevin McHale get another ring? He sure deserves one.
All any fan can hope for is that either their team wins it all, and if that's not the case, the best team wins. The Boston Celtics were the best team in the NBA this season, regardless of how it was put together, and it's only fitting that they win the NBA Title.
I'm so glad for Kevin Garnett to get his first, a guy who deserves more than he's been given. Hopefully 26 points and 14 rebounds in a close out game will shut up those who only evaluate boxscores. Ray Allen and his 26 points tonight have long deserved a shiny championship ring, truly one of the game's best people, and without question one of its best shooters. And to Paul Pierce, NBA Finals MVP, he gets his payback for sticking with the Celtics organization for all these years. His wheelchair act was pathetic, but his play on the court was not. The truth is, he's championship material all the way.
What I can't get over was how pathetic the Lakers played tonight. It's obvious they were the weaker team, but to roll over and play dead when your season on the line is truly one of the most pathetic performances I've ever witnessed in professional sports.
Where does this leave Kobe's legacy? We've all known he need a big low post sidekick, and hopefully he realizes that now. Pau Gasol is a flake, a talented one at that, but not someone that has the intestinal fortitude to deliver when this much is on the line.
We'll discuss this and more tomorrow, but for now, congratulations to the Boston Celtics, your 2008 NBA Champions.
