Kevin Love Tweets About Minnesota Timberwolves Drafting Three Point Guards, Was Not Happy
Kevin Love Would Like To Know What The Hell The Timberwolves Were Doing Last Night
I'm sure while you were watching the NBA Draft last night you were wondering WTF the Minnesota Timberwolves were doing. I know I was. Ricky Rubio, Jonny Flynn and Ty Lawson were their first three picks. All guys are pure point guards. I mean, wasn't Kevin McHale fired?

Now, while Lawson has been traded to the Nuggets for Charlotte's 2009 first round pick (that way the T-Wolves can draft yet another point guard next year), having Flynn and Rubio still makes little sense. Also bad for Minnesota, Rubio may head back to Spain because he hates Minnesota, or more likely because he thinks the Timberwolves are utterly incompetent. I can't help but keep thinking that the Timberwolves massively screwed up in this Draft.

And you know what, so did current T-Wolves player Kevin Love. Last night Love tweeted about the Draft, and hilariously, he also made it clear that he had no clue what his team was doing.

Here's Love just before the T-Wolves drafted Ty Lawson:

Here's Love's response right after Lawson was drafted:

But of course, there was purpose for this right?

And here's Love's apology to his team for going bonkers, while still questioning what the hell they were doing. (The Bucher thing is about how Bucher said love wouldn't be traded).

Anyway, hopefully no one in Minnesota's front office reads Twitter, and judging by how they drafted last night, I'd say they don't.

As for Love, enjoy being a Timberwolf. If  you can.

It would seem Minnesota's planning on sticking up at least one or more teams that need a 1, Flynn, Rubio and/or Telfair must be trade bait, hey the Clippers have a backlog in the front court, Memphis still needs a true point, one or more of these guys has to be trade bait for the future.  Right?!??!!

Love is the type of player the T'Wolves should be trying to build around, and by taking 3 guys high that play the same position without an apparent plan in place to move them for pieces makes zero sense.  I'm not sure how you screw up 4 first round picks, and this year may have been one of the worst to have that many, but the T'Wolves have managed to screw up royally.  A team clearly with no direction, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Rubio stay in Spain for the time being.  Bravo T'Wolves...even with McHale gone you still manage to have nonsense drafts.

Everyone likes to say GMs need to take the "Best Athlete Available" but then when a team actually does it, everyone freaks out. I don't find it weird that the TWolves had Rubio, Flynn, and Lawson as the top athletes on their board. They've already moved Lawson and I wouldn't be surprised if they moved another one in the next few months.

But isn't there a difference between just drafting guys who are high on your board, and drafting guys in an effort to put a team together or get better?   I like the move by the Nuggets to take Lawson off your hands though

Here's the deal guys. As a T'wolves fan, I can say i was horrified by the continual drafting of PG's....until they dealt Lawson, which they planned from the beginning, and Calathes. The draft didn't have a lot of depth outside of PG's, ya know. And Rubio is "trying" to get out of his buyout but it doesn't matter. Let him play in Spain for another year, along with Henk Norel. Let him blossom into an all-around threat and let the Wolves use Flynn for now. Kahn said he wasn't going to trade and it may be a new, and inventive system to use two PG with different styles in their offense (similar to the development of the Wildcat in football). Maybe then the T'Wolves will be a competitor upon Rubio and Norel's entrance to the team.

I'm not a TWolves fan.

Yes there is a difference. It's called drafting the best player available VS. drafting for need. If you really believe in Best Athlete Available then it shouldn't matter what position your draft choices play. You'll find a way to use them or they'll have trade value. Having 2 good PGs is better than having 1 good PG and 1 bad PF.

they're washing picks AKA (NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS) there waiting for free agent signings and to see who needs a PG. It's no way they keep flynn and rubio too much bait out there!

Rubio is going back to Spain unless they trade him, I'm sure of that.
