A B1G TEN FAN BLOG
My name is Wes. I am going to write, discuss, question/ complain, and boost about the upcoming and possibly the past season(s) of Mens basketball in the Big Ten. I want to cover everything that the fan, alumni. and student is thinking and talking about and is curious about.
First a little about me. I mean why read my blog if you have no idea who I am. I was born and raised a Hoosier, not a damn Boilermaker. I was taught you played ball hard, smart and tough. I wanted so badly as a kid to wear those candy stripped warmups and play ball for Coach Bobby Knight in Assembly Hall. Alas nature decided to stop my amazing 8th grade growth spurt at 5'6" so eventually it dawned on me my dream as a child would never happen.
Eventually I came to IU right after the 2002 National Championship run with Coach Mike Davis. I spent my early undergrad years wishing Bracey Wright would step up to the free throw line, and chanting AJ MOYE! AJ MOYE! *clap clap clapclapclap* I was on campus when Davis was canned. Saw the the bright future that students saw in CKS (the coach that shall not be named) and experienced the heart wrenching feeling as our team was dismantled and players quit after his firing. (Thank you Dan Dakich, seriously). I was right beside fellow students when we questioned if we should buy tickets when our most experienced returning player was Kyle Taber. I was graduated and living in Bloomington when Coach Tom Crean stood at center court and declared that IU basketball would be back, and that the rest of the nation did not was it to come back.
That brings us to about the present. What you say? I left out Coach Tom Creans first few years? I did not talk about last year? The ESPY award winning shot from last year? Those are things I want to cover in the future. Anyway if you are a fan of B1G Ten Mens Basketball you know the rest of the story.
Well time for lunch, check back the next blog I will be discussing the excitement in the B1G Ten for the upcoming season. But right now I think a pizza and beer are calling my name from a nice little bar at the corner of... Kirkwood and Dunn.
