FanIQ | Sports Rumors, Gossip, Blogs, News & Discussion ForumsIt is without argument an injury-plagued season for the New York Knicks. Key players have been injured and are still getting back in form and that has made their chances at the playoffs a longshot. Still, their head coach Mike Woodson is optimistic and has plans to make it. Woodson said that there was still time for the team to get its game together and make one final run at the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference so that they qualify for the postseason. He added that if Shumpert comes back then he will bench backup J.R. Smith.

As mentioned before, in order to pull that off, they will need to get their key players back so that they can give the best performance they are capable of. One of the main players they will need will be their swingman Iman Shumpert. Once they have him back, many of their problems will be solved.

Shumpert has so far been out for 2 games because of injuring his right shoulder when the Knicks faced Boston Celtics on Tuesday. Still he is recovering well and on morning was at practice. He judged himself according to the progress he had made and said that he would make his decision to play or not to play at the game.

Shumpert said he would see how well he had recovered till the game and would them make the decision to come or not to, depending on how well his performance was in practice.

“Tonight before the game, we’ll try some more stuff to make sure it’s all right, if everything is OK, if it feels good,” Shumpert said. “I got to be able to get through screens. That’s how I hurt it so that’s what I want to be comfortable with.”
