After another heart wrenching loss to a team that was clearly not as talented as them (76ers), the Los Angeles Lakers were forced to ask themselves why they lacked the energy to compete with younger players.
“Cause we’re old as s—,” said the aging Bryant. “What do you want? We just got to figure out how to play when we don’t have that energy. We got to change things up a little bit defensively. We got to figure out what we want to do offensively, figure out what we want to do on nights when we don’t have those legs or have that energy.”
Meanwhile, up-and-coming younger players such as Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner combined for 48 points as the Sixers went on to beat the Lakers 103-99. Ever since Kobe’s rookie year, the Lakers haven’t really developed their younger players and GM Mitch Kupchak has been known for trading away his draft picks for older and more accomplished players.
Therefore, if the Lakers are going to solve their old age issues any time soon, they may have to make a splash in the next month in a half, before the trading deadline comes to an end.
