Isiah Thomas retired at the young age of 32 after his achilles injury.  Former All Star Elton Brand has never been the same after his achilles injury.  And Chauncey Billups still hasn’t recovered from his achilles injury from two years ago.  So, how is Kobe Bryant already walking without any problems 3.5 months removed from his surgery?

“The surgical procedure was different ... and because of that the recovery has been different,” Bryant said. “The normal timetable for recovery from an Achilles, we’ve shattered that. Three-and-a-half months I can already walk just fine, I’m lifting weights with the Achilles just fine and that’s different.

At this rate, Kobe will be ready for the opening tip of the regular season, which defies all odds and every medical analysis for someone coming off of this debilitating injury.  Tearing your achilles is no minor injury, but then again, Kobe Bryant is no minor player.
