The guard was recently asked about the team shopping Howard, and was flippant with his answer. According to the LA Times:

“On Sunday, Bryant said ‘it doesn’t matter’ what his team does with the six-time All-Star. ‘I don’t know what they are going to do,’ Bryant said Sunday at Toyota Center after helping the West defeat the East, 143-138, in the All-Star game. ‘But at this point …, it doesn’t matter. what matters to us is what we do on Wednesday [against the Boston Celtics] and go from there. That’s the most important thing. That’s my message to the team is that you can’t worry about the future, you can’t worry about the past, you just have to focus on the present and we really have to maximize every single game.’”

GM Mitch Kupchak has assured Howard that he will not be traded, but whether or not he'll stay in LA going forward is completely up in the air.

There have been no significant developments or statements to lead people to think either way.

Bryant is right, though. While even an injured Howard is putting up All-Star numbers, and can certainly help any team he is on, the Lakers could still have four big men next year: Pau Gasol, Jordan Hill, Earl Clark and Robert Sacre.

With the exception of Pau, this is a ton of young, athletic, energetic talent that the Lakers could cultivate and build around.

However, it won't necessarily hurt the Lakers to have Dwight, unless his personality and attitude prove to be a significant problem, which it seems like they might.
