Maybe it's just because the NFL is far and away the most popular sport in our country, and injuries can damage your own fantasy team hopes, but we never seem to hear to many gripes about the preseason NBA injuries. All August we throw a fit that there are, at the very least, two more exhibition games than necessary. Yet this month, NBA teams will be playing at least eight practice games with just as many injuries taking place. Of course, we're all too busy following the MLB postseason, NFL and college football to even notice.
However, last night fans may have taken notice. Kobe Bryant hyperextended his right knee during the second quarter of a preseason game against the Charlotte Bobcats. Kobe collided knees with teammate Josh Powell and immediately hobbled over to the bench.
Bryant was in good spirits on the bench throughout the second half, but admitted it was very sore and wasn't positive about the results of an MRI schedule for today.
Knowing Kobe, this shouldn't be too big of a deal and he'll play through. But I wonder if anyone is up in arms about the amount of NBA preseason games?
