The guard tweeted out:
This year, luckily, Bryant got the flu while he is also injured, so he may not even have the option to try and play through it.

After entering the game for 12 minutes in the battle between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Indiana Pacers on Friday, Kobe sat for the rest of the game with a bad sprain and was listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Sacramento Kings before falling ill.
The flu may actually be a blessing in disguise because knowing Kobe, telling him that he’s doubtful for a game will make him want to play even more. However, if he can’t walk and is a liability to the team, then he’ll sit, which is what it seems like will happen.
Also, while no game is a “gimmie,” this is one that the Lakers should be able to pull off without the Black Mamba.
