Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsAfter a thrilling 2011-12 NBA season full of Linsanity and the blossoming of an epic rivalry between LeBron James and Kevin Durant, watching this American team in the Olympics has felt like an extra treat. Each of the past few games has been wildly entertaining as it seems like a different player carries the Team USA on his back to put the game out of reach for whichever team the Americans are up against.

In Team USA’s last group play game against Argentina, it was Kevin Durant who caught fire and started nailing three-pointers. In the third quarter, he made six triples, and the U.S. went from being up three at halftime to having a 28-point lead, which Argentina never recovered from.

Then, in Team USA’s most competitive game in these Olympics to date, it was LeBron who went on a one-man run to lift the Americans past Lithuania. After the U.S. was down 84-82 with less than six minutes to go, Chris Paul and Deron Williams made baskets to get the lead back, but it was all LeBron after that. Of the last 11 points scored by the Americans, LeBron dropped in nine and the U.S. ultimately won 99-94.

And now, most recently, in the U.S. team’s quarterfinal matchup against Australia, Kobe Bryant led the charge. The Americans were up 93-78, and each time the U.S. seemed like it was ready to break the game open, the Australians made a run to keep the score close. But that ended quickly once Kobe Bryant decided to take over.

For four consecutive possessions, Kobe rose up behind the three-point line, took aim and got nothing but net. LeBron James racked up three assists in the process, and in that span of just 66 seconds, the U.S. increased its 15-point lead to 25.

Ultimately, it is clear that Kobe's aerial display broke Australia’s spirit, as the Australians went on to score only six more points for the rest of the game, and the final score ended up being 119-86.

Now, Team USA will go up against Argentina for the third time in less than three weeks. The exhibition game between the two teams was a narrow victory for the U.S. as the final score was 86-80. While the Americans got off to a strong start, Argentina’s stars Manu Ginobili, Luis Scola and Carlos Delfino all had strong outings—combining for 65 percent of their team’s points. In their most recent matchup, however, which took place on August 6, the game was only competitive until halftime before Kevin Durant’s aforementioned electric shooting became too much for Argentina to overcome.

But now, after LeBron saved the Americans against Lithuania, Durant lit up Argentina and Kobe couldn't miss against Australia, who will come through for the U.S. in their upcoming rematch against Argentina?

The semifinal between Team USA and Argentina is a must-see and will start at 4pm EST on Friday. The winner will play either Spain or Russia in the gold-medal game.

I agree normally I do just draw attention to the misquotes, what I was saying yince you went with the Kentucky comment, saying to go back and I am done with you as if you were saying I was trash, so I did take it the wrong way.

As for doing anything the USA team could do it was not that Kentucky was as good, but the teams were really bad and people can get mad but the USA team did not play team basketball. There was a lack of movement and getting players open instead it looked more like a NBA all-star game, with out all the dunks.

With all that has been written I have no ill feelings towards you, with some things we will just agree to disagree.

well you have to agree international basketball has improved a lot since the original dream team.  I think Argentina and Spain have pretty good teams and they do have NBA players on them.  Back when the dream team played it was cream puff time and a cakewalk.  Not besmirching them.  Just that there was no competition back then.  International play has gotten much better.

The biggest flaw of this team, in my opinion, was no big man presence.  Was all perimeter play.  Had there been a big man of note there would have been more inside out play and pick and rolls and real play.  But considering their limitations they still managed to play well.  And Durant is the top individual scorer in Olympic history... right?  You have to give them some credit.

And not to be argumentative but I will agree to disagree that Kentucky would have beat Spain.  I have serious doubts about that.

no worries.

well when someone "misquotes" me I simply draw their attention to is without being condescending.
Perhaps i should have put a LOL after my kentucky comment.  Because it seemed you were so gung ho Kentucky that you seemed from there.  So it was a metaphorical retort that commented on what appeared to be your extreme prejudice toward Kentucky.

Many people on here misquote things and I just simply draw their attention to it to correct it.  Too many on here have a "know it all" attitude and they dismiss other opinions as "stupid" "misguided" or "childish".
I have nothing against a  good debate that is respectful but I also will not back down to someone dissing me and trying to sound me as some stupid chick.  And I still stand by my comment that Kentucky could not beat Spain or Argentina (olympic teams) because they are ladened with professionals.

Kentucky is a great college team.  Maybe they can beat the Bobcats.  Then again a group of nuns could probably beat the Bobcats, lol.  I took exception to the notion they could do anything the USA team could do as well.  That is all.

Yes I was being condescending I am not denying that.  You started with "You saying KENTUCKY is better than the pros is laughable!  Get over it." and "I'm done with you.  Comment all you want ... go back to Kentucky or stay there lmao", really that need to be written. No where is it stated I am from there, live or had lived there.

At no time did I have an issue with you and I disagreeing, you went to the condescending tone and misquoting what I had written.

Go back to Kentucky really and stay there lmao.... wow laugh at your own little joke.... so sad. No you did not write that nor can you read....  "Mello, Durant, sweetest 3pt shot ever!!!" is what you said and I wrote it the same way. So I said he is not even the best 3 pt shooter in the league, sorry again I can point out many players that have a sweeter shot then Durant.

Lets get this straight I cannot put color by numbers in here for you so I will go slow so you can understand.

I SAID KENTUCKY COULD BEAT THE TEAMS THE USA DID TO WIN GOLD. WE DID NOT NEED THE PROS FOR THAT OUR COLLEGE KIDS COULD HAVE DONE THE SAME THING.

Before you look stupid again yes our college kids have played pros in other countries before and guess what they won.

To your fianl point yes Bird did lay on the floor and was Magic older.  Again how wrong you are Bird is older then Magic by almost 4 years.... just as you were wrong about their age you are wrong about them beating the '92 team.

One more time because I do see you cannot read. I NEVER SAID KENTUCKY OR KANSAS COULD BEAT THE USA 2012 OLYMPIC SQUAD, I SAID THEY COULD BEAT THE OTHER TEAMS LIKE TUNISIAFRANCE, NIGERIA, LITHUANIA, AUSTRALIA, AND SPAIN (as of today in the last game) 107-100 win what a joke. I wrote that is the first comment, so before you continue to put your foot in your mouth read, or if I must cao it READ FIRST, INCASE YOU STILL DO NOT GET IT HAVE SOMEONE READ IT TO YOU.

Go back to Kentucky, still do not see where you got that, but it showed how little you know and how stupid the comments are which you right.

you are an arrogant prick

That's the thing, Kentucky does not have to would play better ball and win. Gary Petyon, Scottie Pippen, Clyde Drexter, Mike Jordan would make life suck for Lebron. Even in the NBA teams do not have a strong big man that makes any difference so they can drive at will. Who would stop MJ, Scottie Pippen, Ewing, Malone, Barley, Robinson, Bird, Magic, from this year team? Please the '92 would kill this team and Kentucky or Kansas would beat the same teams as this joke of a team in this years Olympics.

to the other teams i say "pick your poison"!~  It's like the 3 stooges trying to plug a leak.  The water wins!  The odds of LeBron, Durant, Westbrook, Harden, Kobe, Paul ALL going cold at the same time???  If that happens I'm buying a lottery ticket.
