With the Lakers season opener just one day away, Kobe Bryant may be missing from the Lakers line-up. Bryant is still receiving treatment on his strained right foot from a week ago and hasn’t practiced since the injury. When teammate Pau Gasol was asked whether he thought Kobe would play, he replied, “I don't know, I have my doubts. I hope we (have him in the lineup). ... He hasn't been able to practice for six days. He's been off that foot for six days, and it's no joke. I don't remember the last time that he took that many days off exercising. He might do stuff in the weight room and might do stuff without putting weight on the foot, but it's a little bit concerning."
Kobe has always been willing to play through any injury, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him on the floor against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday evening. As for now, however, even his teammates haven't the slightest clue as to whether or not number 24 will be in uniform tomorrow.
"He hasn't really talked about it," Dwight Howard said. "I know he's a little down right now. He seems down because he can't get out there and practice with us. He's trying to nurse his foot."
