Nothing.
I've been trying to make sense of these Kobe rumors this morning and I don't think it's much more than Bryant wanting a little attention and the media having little to talk about mid-week. This interview with Kobe sure makes it seems like something is up, but I don't think it's anything more than Bryant using the opportunity to convey some frustration over the lack of moves by Jerry Buss.
Marc Stein of ESPN says the end is near in Los Angeles:
So clear that the end of the Kobe Bryant era in Lakerland has never seemed closer.T.J. Simers believes it's nothing more than Kobe acting like a child, which is precisely where I stand. I'd be frustrated too if I was surrounded by minimal talent, but if I was that desperate to win I'd re-work my contract to make a move easier for the Lakers.
The events of a zany Tuesday allowed for no other conclusion. You inevitably wondered, once your stomach settled, whether the Lakers are going to have to live like this for the rest of Bryant's days in purple and gold, however many are left, with the smothering expectation that he's headed to the airport any minute.
Kobe will be playing for the Lakers all season. As for next year, I'm sure we'll be treated to the same song and dance after Bryant watches how successful Kevin Garnett was in his move East.
What do you make of the Kobe trade talk, locker cleaning situation?
