Kobe Bryant vs. Ray Allen
by

Through two games of the NBA Finals, I feel Ray Allen has gotten the better of Kobe Bryant. Sure Kobe has outscored Allen 54-36 overall. But Allen has been more efficient. His 36 points came on 24 shots from the floor. Kobe's 54 points came on 49 shots from the floor. Granted they have not been covering each other for the entire time. But if you watched the games closely, when Allen is covering Bryant, or vice-versa, Allen is winning the scoring match-up. Kobe is widely called "the best player in the world". He is supposedly a great defensive player. But Ray Allen is doing a better job defensively on Kobe, than the other way around.
I've heard from many people that "Ray Allen is done". What a joke. Ray Allen is a great player who is up to this challenge. Nobody really talks about Allen's role as a defensive player. That is truly not his strength, I agree. Kobe's lack of efficient scoring is mainly attributed to Boston's team D. But Allen, as a competitor in a "team" game, is doing quite well.
Watch them head to head tonight, Kobe rarely takes him off the dribble. He needs a screen to get free from Allen's under-rated D.
Also, in case you don't know why this is happening, take a look at this from a few years ago. Ray Allen called Kobe what he is: A SELFISH PLAYER
