Kobe Out Indefinitely With Ankle Injury
Bryant: "I can't get my mind past the fact that I've got to wait a year to get revenge"
Replays showed Bryant landing to what appeared to be Jones heel. Kobe isn't obviously convinced enough to believe that Jones played tough defense without an intent to deliberately injure. Jones shared his thoughts via Twitter.
Jones: "Tape doesn't lie. Ankle was turned on the floor after the leg kick out that knocked him off balance. I would never try to hurt the man."
It's hard to believe that Jones had any intent. Kobe is infamous for kicking his leg out on jump shots, leaving him suceptible to awkward landings in front of challenging defenders. An unfortunate setback for fans, fantasy owners and especially the organization. Bryant isn't exactly sounding optimistic on a quick return. Prior to the game the Lakers had won 15 of their past 20 games, but now sit 9th in the Western Conference at 34 -32. Pau Gasol is likely to return from his foot injury sometime next week. With Kobe out, the Lakers will have to rely more heavily on a resurgent Dwight Howard with Jodie Meeks likely to see more run in Kobe's absence if they want to salvage what has been a roller-coaster of a season.
