Kris Humphries says his divorce proceedings would take priority over a playoff game

According to TMZ (take that however you'd like), Humprhies would skip an NBA playoff game to go to court for his divorce proceedings.

Of course, most athletes would be able to pull some strings and change the date of the trial if necessary. Unfortunately, he's only Kris Humphries, and he's going against Kim Kardashian, whose celebrity is in a completely different stratosphere.

Sorry, Kris. You're the small fry this time.

If he skipped the trial and attended the games, it would obviously put him at a huge disadvantage.

The folks at TMZ seem to think that he's going to lose anyway, and it makes sense.

I mean... think about it... the only reason we know Kim Kardashian's name is because her father, Robert Kardashian, was part of the legal team that got O.J. Simpson acquitted in the murder trial of Nicole Brown Simpson.

By virtue of that fact alone, I would assume that Kim and her family have the best lawyers that their ill-gotten money can buy, and there's no way a piddling NBA player like Kris Humphries could ever compete.

Also, at this point, what is he trying to accomplish? Kim's pregnant with Kanye West's child (we think), and they had a prenuptial agreement, so Humphries is pretty much screwed.

He might be known to most of society as "Kim Kardashian's ex," but the bottom line is that he's a basketball player above all.

If he were to ditch his team during the playoffs to attend his divorce trial, it's hard to imagine that his teammates would really trust him in the future. Let's hope that he never has to make this decision, and the trial doesn't conflict with his playing schedule.

But if it does, let's hope he makes the right decision and stays with his team.
