"Kyle Orton Is Our Quarterback"
READ MORE:

This infamous photo that appeared on Deadspin two years ago is all one really needs to know about Kyle Orton. It took both the Jim Beam lovin' Boilermaker and blogger to new heights.

I thought I would have to suffer through three dreadful weeks of football in the Windy City, but alas, Lovie Smith has finally put a smile on my face in the most unlikely way.

"Kyle Orton is our quarterback." Why the hell not. The man with the best neck beard in the NFL has to be at least as productive as the two-headed interception machine of Greissman.

Whiskey shots all around next Monday night, because we're not exactly sure what to expect from the man who was able to pilot a very good football team two years. Now taking over for the pathetic version could be all kinds of hilarity. Thank you, Lovie.

I think this is the Bears way of giving up on the season without blatently giving the ball to the other team.

Is there really a difference between Kyle Orton, Rex Grossman, and Brian Griese at this point?  He can't really do any worse.

No quarterback can save that dreadful offense, but since we know Grossman and Griese are probably gone at seasons' end, why not I suppose.

Well, we must keep in mind that Orton led the team to a successful season a couple of years ago.  Even though he wasn't the focal point of the team, he did what he had to do to keep them winning, which is more than Grossman and Griese have been doing.

You should really trademark Greissman or it might be on next weeks MNF Broadcast. I can hear Tony K now... "Kyle Orton is much better than Ryan Greissman."

How soon we forget. Over the last two seasons, when Grossman gets a significant number of snaps, the Bears are 18-8.

I'm looking forward to the next several weeks, for no other reason than the thought of Kyle Orton being the Bear QB in the future can be buried.

You don't want him to succeed?

It's not a matter of me wanting him to succeed. He won't. I already know that. Once he doesn't, Bears fans can move on. If he ends up going 20 for 28 with 2 TDs and no picks each game over the next three, I'll be thrilled. But he won't.

Based on what? 10 games of his rookie season where he was thrown into a situation he wasn't expected to be in (he started the season as 3rd string).

You never know, we'll see how far he's come. At least his value will be known for sure after the season.

Based on the fact that of the three Bears QBs, the coaching staff consider him the third best. That, and how bad he was when he did play two years ago. Rookie or not, he didn't have the physical tools necessary. If his problem was reading defenses or knowing the offense, that could improve with time. His physical tools likely haven't improved greatly.

I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt I am.
