LSU - Arkansas: #1 Tigers Finally Lose a Close Game to Razorbacks in 3OT 50-48

LSU has converted so many close 4th and 1's, so many clutch touchdowns that sooner or later their luck was going to run out. That and Darren McFadden happened.

The previously #1 ranked Tigers most likely lost their chance to play for the national title, although it's still too crazy of a year to count them out. A win over Georgia in the SEC title game could boost their stock. If it's Tennessee, then probably not. Fans in West Virginia and Ohio are feeling good tonight.

Easily a candidate for game of the year, Darren McFadden might have also had his game of the season. His 206 on the ground with 3 TDs and 34 yards through the air with another TD far exceeds his staggering performance against South Carolina. It might just be good enough for the Heisman. At the very least, he's locked up a flight to NYC in two weeks.

I'd like to say it's going to be the Kansas-Missouri winner and West Virginia, but that's assuming nothing crazy happens tomorrow. I love college football.

Arkansas 50, LSU 48

Oklahoma can get back to the title game. It will take 13 steps in 2 weeks:

1) Oklahoma has to be Oklahoma St by a good amount
2) Kansas must beat Missouri
3) Oklahoma must beat Kansas by a good amount in the Big 12 title game
4) LSU must lose to Arkansas
5) West Virginia has to lose to Connecticut or Pittsburgh
6) Arizona St must lose to USC or Arizona
7) Georgia must lose to Georgia Tech
8) Tennessee must beat Kentucky
9) LSU must lose in the SEC title game to Tennessee or Tennessee loses to Kentucky and then Georgia must best LSU
10) Virgina Tech must lose to Virginia
11) Oregon must lose to Oregon St.
12) USC should lose to UCLA just to be safe
13) Finally, Oklahoma gets to play Ohio St. in the National Title game

Things just got more complicated, I like.

Of course, watch a 2 loss LSU make in over other 1 loss teams.  With all of these teams so even, it's a shame that we don't get to see them legitmately prove who the best team is.

Yeah, LSU isn't going to get much sympathy from me. NC bowl officials are probably a little bummed, but for now, it's Missouri and West Virginia in New Orleans. And don't count out Ohio State. They're right back in it.

OK, is it possible that if Mizzou beats Kansas in a close one tomorrow night and then beats OU in the Big XII title game that the BCS Championship game is a KU/Mizzou rematch? It's possible with KU having only one loss, but would they even have a win over a ranked opponent?

So Les Miles has taken the most talented team in the nation to no NC games for two years in a row now?  Lets get him in Michigan as quick as possible.

I'm not much of an expert on the qualities, or lack thereof, in Les Miles, but I know many Illini fans are excited at the prospect of Michigan hiring him.

I probably give him far too rough of a time, but he's just not a good in-game coach at all.  His record will always be good, but I don't know how many conference titles or national titles he'll ever win.

Sounds good to me, too.

What I find interesting is that a lot of people at Michigan are iffy on Les because, essentially, they've seen him cheat to steal recruits. It's one thing when rival fans complain about cheating, but when it's the school thats interested in hiring the guy and their pretty open about his "cheating" as a negative quality that's another thing.

All I have to say is no way that LSU should be in the title game after this loss. The series where LSU had the ball in the fourth quarter with around 8 minutes left, they had like 3 major penalties in a row which killed it. On the Arkansas side Darren McFadden is outstanding, but his uniform today made him look so much taller than he is a some what like a stick.
