Three Prospects LSU Wants to Land on Signing Day
Now, Miles and his staff will turn their attention to National Signing Day where they could make even more noise and potentially solidify this as one of Miles' best classes ever.
So how does Miles add to what is already close to a top-five class in the country? He goes out and gets several of the remaining top prospects in this class. But, of course, that's much easier said than done.
With all that in mind, let's look at three players that could take this class up a notch come February 5:
Travonte Valentine - Defensive Tackle (Hialeah, FL)
The 6-foot-3, 338-pound defensive tackle just seems like the type of player that would fit perfectly with Miles and LSU. Luckily for the Tigers, all signs seem to point towards him signing on the dotted line for LSU next Wednesday.
Before that happens though, Valentine will visit Miami (FL) this week. Miami is easily LSU's top competition for Valentine's services, so it'll be interesting to see if that visit changes anything or sways the predictors towards the side of the Hurricanes.
Getting one of the best defensive tackles in the entire class will certainly gives Miles and LSU a much-needed boost in terms of depth at that position.
Malachi Dupre - Wide Receiver (New Orleans, LA)
LSU is losing a pair of wide receiver studs (Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr.) to the NFL draft. But, it could ease the pain of that loss by getting in-state five-star receiver Malachi Dupre.
Dupre would be an instant game-changer for the LSU offense. He has the potential to pick up right where Landry and Beckham left off by making big play after big play. This guy really is the total package at the wide receiver position. Dupre at wide receiver and Fournette at running back? The LSU offense will be fun to watch next season.
The good news for LSU fans is that it will probably take a miracle for him to land anywhere other than Baton Rouge. Florida State is the biggest threat to take him away, but honestly, there's a very, very small chance of that happening.
Kenny Young - Inside Linebacker (New Orleans, LA)
Both Dupre and Young attend John Curtis Christian High School in New Orleans, but the big question is whether or not they will both attend the same college.
The four-star linebacker has already taken his official visit to LSU earlier in the week and will make UCLA his last official visit today (Friday). Most analysts seem to believe that Young's choice is an absolute toss-up at this point. Perhaps we'll know more once he visits with Jim Mora Jr. and the Bruins.
LSU has already received a commitment from five-star linebacker Clifton Garrett, so adding Young to the mix would be an added bonus for the future of this defense.
