Congratulations to LSU on their victory over The Ohio State University. With this win, LSU is the undisputed National Champion--right? Well, they are the BCS National Champs. However, the Kansas Jayhawks defeated a very good Virginia Tech team to go 12-1. Do they deserve a share of the title? I do not think so.
However, Georgia defeated one of the most prolific offenses by overpowering the country's last unbeaten team in the Sugar Bowl. Georgia took out its frustration at getting passed over for a shot at the BCS championship with a 41-10 rout of the Hawaii Warriors. With that very impressive win, do they deserve a share of the National Championship, possibly!
Only one method will end this never-ending debate--playoffs. Put the top eight ranked teams and let the fun begin. In the end, there will be a true champion. There will be no debating who is better than the other. There will be a unanimous National Champion, not a shared title.
The sad thing is, even if the NCAA does implement a playoff system, there will be those that will find something to complain about. Teams that do not make the playoffs, but for some reason feel they should have, will try to argue and fight the system. However, a playoff system is a much better, and obviously, a much more popular format to decide once and for all which team is the undisputed National Champion.
