LaVar Arrington seriously injured in motorcycle accident
READ MORE:
NFL
Not much information right now, but here's the release from the local news site:

LaVar Arrington, a former member of the Washington Redskins and New York Giants, has been seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon.

Prince George's County Fire tells WTOP that Arrington is in serious condition after the crash near Route 50 and the Capital Beltway.

Channel 9 reports Arrington was taken to Prince George's Hospital Center.

Why athletes continue to ride motorcycles during there playing career is beyond me.

Update: WUSA9 says Arrington does not have life threatening injuries.
Update 2: According to ESPN radio, multiple fractures to his leg(s) and a broken arm
Update 3: STOP RIDING MOTORCYCLES

We can hope LeVar can make it through this and is back in an NFL jersey this season.

I agree though, why are they still riding motorcycles?  Clubs should start putting "no ride" clauses in contracts.

I just heard about this on Mike and the Mad Dog on my way back to work... I was looking for more information online, but it looks like there isn't much available at this point. Let's keep LaVar and his loved ones in our thoughts.

ESPN hasn't even reported this yet, so right now there isn't much to know.

Just about one year and a week since Ben's motorcycle accident.

Broken arm and leg seem to be the reports ... well, and a broken contract.

LaVar was a class act player. Played for 3/4 of the NFC East, but was always a great player and person. Figures it's a good player that gets hurt. Can't someone run over Pacman Jones while his "gang" is shooting up another bar?

Ugh... get well LaVar.  Next time just take whatever insanely expensive car that you own.

With all due respect to his injuries ... I think this is the first time I've seen 'class act' and 'LaVar Arrington' in the same sentence.

Arrington has always had injury problems, this certainly doesn't help his cause.  Poor guys probably done for this year.

I think many clubs do put these clauses in contracts but the players don't always listen.  It's easy to see both sides though -- teams have tons of money locked up in these players, they should be able to protect their investments.  On the other hand, how much control should a team have over what a person does off the field, as long as it's legal and doesn't negatively impact the image of the club?  You can't put these guys in bubblewrap all year long until it's time to take the field.

Now, that being said...if Pacman's next team doesn't insist on a "No strip club" clause, then they deserve what's coming to them.

I don't know about limiting a player from riding a motorcycle, but there should be a clause protecting the club.  If the player chooses to ride, then they should be prepared to pay the price.  If you cant play, the club should not pay!  Too easy!

Now about Pacman.  He should be banned for life from playing organized sports!  He will not learn from the past, he is still living it each day.  He is a great talent, but he is too ignorant to understand his potential.  Sad.

Sorry to disappoint...I'm in Korea, and had very limited internet access for a couple days. But yeah...LaVar Arrington is a moron...just like Big Ben.

I'm hoping for the best for Lavar Arrington. I don't want to see anyone with his ability to not be able to do what they love doing.
