Kobe's Huge 2nd Half Fuels Comeback Victory Over Spurs
5/22/08

Kobe Bryant scored 25 of his 27 points, including the game winning 10 footer with 24 seconds left, in the 2nd half to lead the Lakers over the Spurs 89-85 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The Lakers were down 65-45 with 3:54 left in the 3rd quarter. From the 3:54 mark in the 3rd to the end of the game, the Lakers out scored the Spurs 44-20, while holding the Spurs to 6-23 shooting. Kobe also had 9 assist and 5 rebounds to go with his 27 points. Pau Gasol scored 19 points and pulled down 7 rebounds, while Sasha Vujacic and Vladimir Radmanovic added 10 points each. Phil Jackson is 40-0 in playoff series' when he wins Game 1.

Tim Duncan was dominant all night, pretty much having his way with whoever was "guarding" him, scoring 30 points, grabbing 18 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Tony Parker also had a very good night with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. The final piece in the Spurs Big 3, Manu Ginobili, struggled all night, scoring only 10 points on 3-13 shooting while committing a team high 5 turnovers. Before the game, TNT reported that Manu had ripped the nail off of his middle finger on his left hand before Game 5 against the Hornets, however; tonight was the first night that we really saw any effect on his shooting so far.

Game 2 is on Friday in Los Angles on TNT.

Los Angles 89, San Antonio 85

Now for the Clip of The Night:

Now it's your turn. Can the Spurs bounce back after this big let down? Will Boston continue their winning ways at home tonight? Who should the Bulls take with the Number 1 pick?

I can't believe we pulled that one off.  In the first 32 minutes of game one we scored 45 points, and in the last 16 we (almost) doubled that.  The best part is that I think the Lakers have more potential to play better than tonight than the Spurs do.  We'll see how this plays out, but hopefully the Lakers decide to show up a little bit earlier in game two because the Spurs won't blow another one like this.

This was a fantastic win, they took a Spur hay-maker and they got up and gutted out a gigantic win. Now this series is far from over. The Spurs are the champs and you have to take the belt from them. They are not just going to hand it to the Lakers.
