The Clippers parted with their electric backup point guard, Mo Williams, this offseason in order to bring back a familiar face in Lamar Odom fresh off his worst season of his career with the Dallas Mavericks. LA was hoping he would rediscover his game in Los Angeles because it had become his comfort zone while playing with the other Staples Center tenant.

However, Vinny Del Negro was counting on him playing himself into game-shape and becoming that dependable bench big man to play crucial minutes in big games. He has still had trouble finding his scoring touch and that might come toward the end of a long season, but he is beginning to show some signs of the Odom of old.

In the month of December, Odom is averaging only 23 minutes per game, but averaging 8 rebounds, 2 assists and a block while playing very tough defense on opposing big men.His knack for rebounding gives the Clippers an added dimension off their already impressive bench.  He can handle the ball, he's a willing passer and a team-first player.

If Odom can continue to progress in his 'comeback' season, the Clippers may find themselves in a crucial playoff series down the road in May where they can lean on their crafty veteran for extended minutes when it counts the most. He has posted 6 games with 9+ rebounds and 5 games with 3 or more assists this month.

Re-establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with on both ends come playoff time will take this team from dangerous to championship contender.
