Larry Bowa Wastes Little Time Being Larry Bowa [MLB Daily]
4/2/08
Recapping the relevant MLB action every morning ...
Settle down, Larry. Game 2 of the season, buddy, and you're playing the Giants. You'd need several dozen bad calls at the plate to lose this game.
New 3rd base coach, Larry Bowa, blew a gasket in the 6th inning last night and currently takes the lead in manager/coach ejections. Is there any doubt, Bowa will take this category even though he's just a base coach? Oh, right, the game ...
Dodgers 3, Giants 2 It should be of little surprise that it took San Francisco 15 innings to score a run. It's a huge surprise, that they managed to lead a game for even a half inning. Derek Lowe loaded the bases in the Top of the 7th, but was drilled in the leg forcing him to leave the game. His replacement Joe Beimel walked in the first run and gave up another RBI single. No worries, though, the Giants bullpen is nearly as bad as the lineup. Rafael Furcal drove in two runs in the bottom half and then Delwyn Young got an always impressive infield single walk off. O's or Giants: who wins first?
Rangers 5, Mariners 4 Josh Hamilton a one-year wonder? I think not. The former Red hit a game winning 2-run shot over J.J. Putz in the top of the 10th. I realize it's a little hard, just a touch, but still remain confused why the Reds so quickly got rid of Hamilton. We shall see ...
Yankees 3, Blue Jays 2 Melky Cabrera's D on opening night was so good, Bugs & Cranks is already looking for a nickname. Melky added a game-tying home run in the 6th to help Joe Girardi start his Yankee tenure undefeated. A-Rod remains locked in going 2-for-3.
Red Sox 2, Athletics 1 Dice-K was dealing. 9 K's and 0 BB's. That'll get it done.
Rockies 2, Cardinals 1 That's a tough way to start the year. Adam Wainright was dealing on Monday afternoon, Albert Pujols hit a HR and the Cards led 5-1. All wiped away by the rain and the bats didn't return Tuesday night.
