NBA Triple Threat: Your daily roundup of last night's action in the Association. Cleveland 119 New York 101 LeBron James was treated like a King in New York as he led the Cavs to a beatdown of the Knicks. LeBron also debuted those god awful "Big Apple" shoes tonight. LeBron only needed to play 30 minutes to get his 26 points as the Cavs used a 21-2 run in the second quarter to take a 25 point halftime lead. The way the fans in New York were cheering, you would have thought that the Knicks were winning. All of the love was for who Knick fans think will be their franchise player in 2010. The Cavaliers improve to 11-3 on the season, their best start since 1988-89, and are currently playing like the second best team in the East.
Phoenix 99 Oklahoma City 98 Steve Nash had a game that was similar to a game Nash had before this season. Nash led a Suns comeback over the hapless Thunder. The Thunder led by as much as 16 points with 2 minutes to go in the 3rd but the Suns, behind Amare Stoudemire's 22 points and Steve Nash's 20 points and 15 assists, were able to rally and a Matt Barnes three pointer with 22 seconds remaining gave the Suns the win and dropped the Thunder to a league worst 1-14. For only the 6th time this season the Thunder were able to break the 90 point barrier. Kevin Durant had 29 points but it wasn't enough. The Suns improve to 10-5 and are in a tie for 2nd place in the Western Conference.
Dallas 109 Indiana 106 Don't look now but the Mavs actually look like a halfway decent team. Playing without Josh Howard, Jason Terry picked up the scoring slack with 16 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter and Jason Kidd of all people, hit a pair of key 3-pointers to help the Mavs rally from a 13-point second-half deficit. Dirk Nowitzki and Antoine Wright each had 24 points for the Mavs who have now won five in a row. Danny Granger led the Pacers with 22 while Troy Murphy and Brandon Rush added 21 and 18 respectively. The Mavs now crawl back to .500 where they will try and build on this five game winning streak with a huge game Friday against the defending Western Conference champion Lakers.
