Vasquez-USA TODAY SportsLeBron James has become only the third NBA player to win the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year award, joining legends Michael Jordan and Larry Bird.

It makes perfect sense, since LeBron is easily the best basketball player on the planet, and no one in any sport is currently dominating their field the way LeBron has done lately.

On both sides of the court, he's an incredible force. LeBron is a 7-time first-team All-NBA player, and made the first-team All-Defensive squad 5 times in a row. He has won 4 of the last 5 MVP awards, and was the star of the two straight NBA champions.

Honestly, this might not be the last time LeBron takes home this award. He should realistically win MVP every year until he's out of his prime, and as long as he has even a decent supporting cast around him, he'll keep winning championships.

Appreciate what you're watching, because LeBron James will one day go down as the greatest basketball player who ever lived.
