Cooper-USA TODAY SportsWhen people discuss LeBron James and his rivals, the names that generally come up include guys like Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant, since they're widely considered the only ones who could possibly compete with LeBron for the title of "best player in the league."

However, when asked who HE thought was his biggest rival, LeBron came up with a bit of a surprising answer: Paul Pierce.

While even the biggest Celtics fan out there wouldn't actually try to compare Pierce and LeBron as individual players, the statement isn't actually that crazy after you stop and think about it.

As they point out over at Hoop Doctors, Pierce and the Celtics have been LeBron's biggest roadblock ever since he came into the league.

Pierce and LeBron have squared off 30 times in the regular season. The Celtics won 15 of those, and LeBron's team (between the Cavaliers and Heat) won 15. They've played 25 more in the playoffs, with LeBron's team winning 13.

Pierce is sometimes the forgotten superstar when it comes to discussing the league's greats. But at the end of the day, he's a Hall of Famer without a doubt, and it's quite the honor when one of the best players of all time (LeBron) considers you his biggest rival.
