NBA Triple Threat: Your daily round-up of last night's action in the Association.Cleveland 118 New York 82
If the Cavs keep this up, LeBron will never want to change what city he calls home. The Cavs breezed to the win as they improved to 10-0 at home on the season thus far. LeBron scored 21 in a sweet 70's throwback while the Cavs stormed out to a 61-35 halftime lead. Mo Williams put in 16 points as LeBron's Robin and Zydrunas Ilgauskas contributed a double double. No Cleveland starter played over 28 minutes in the dominating win. The Cavs are now 15-3 and with Wally Szczerbiak's expiring contract they have the ability to add another piece to the puzzle. Cleveland could very well steal the Eastern Conference title from the Celtics.
Los Angeles 114 Philadelphia 102
Speaking of home, Kobe Bryant returned to the city he grew up in. Kobe put on a great show for the Philly fans scoring 32 points on 60% shooting. The Lakers as a team shot 58% as they controlled this game throughout, but could never pull away for a blowout. Andre Miller and Andre Igoudala had 26 and 19 respectively for the 76ers. Elton Brand scored only 3 points in 25 minutes, but strained his right hamstring. The seriousness of his injury will be evaluated tomorrow. The Lakers recovered from Tuesday's disappointing tip-in loss and moved to 15-2. The 76ers continue to struggle and team president Ed Stefanski admitted to looking for ways to improve his team.
New Orleans 104 Phoenix 91
Amare Stoudemire wants a chance to prove he can be the man and was given it tonight. Steve Nash sat out with the flu and Shaq was rested leaving Amare as the man. Unfortunately for Amare, he failed tonight. Stoudemire put up a solid 26 points but only pulled down 4 rebounds as the Hornets pulled away in the 3rd quarter to an easy 13 point win. Chris Paul led the Hornet attack with 24 points and 15 assists, proving once again that he is a very special talent. Peja Stojakovic had 24 points and David West had 23 points and 14 rebounds for the Hornets who improved to 10-6 on the season. Phoenix falls to 11-8 after a 9-5 start to the season. Maybe the Suns age actually is catching up to them.
