Leroy Butler Says Favre Still Wants To Play
Your Unsubstantiated Brett Favre Rumor Of the Day: He's Going To Play For A Division Rival
In all honesty, it's getting to the point where I'm actually starting to believe people who say Brett Favre is going to come back and play this next season. The reason is simple, Favre continues to refuse to hand in his retirement papers, and he waffles whenever asked if he has really truly retired. Favre's own agent admitted that Favre still wants to play.

And now there's even more fuel to add to the fire.

Deadspin caught word that former Packers safety Leroy Butler had been talking about how Favre wanted to return this coming season. But it gets even more bizarre.

Butler believes that the only teams Favre could come back to - that aren't Green Bay - are the ones in the same division, meaning Detroit, Minnesota, and Chicago. I can't really understand WHY Favre would go to any of those teams since Green Bay is clearly superior to all of them and he'd have to deal with massive fan backlash, but whatever. It's a fun idea.

Just the thought of Favre making his career interception record totally unreachable by playing for a year with the Lions is truly awesome. The comedy factor would be through the roof.

Butler voiced his crazy scheme not only on a radio station, but also on a TV program, which you can see here. Maybe it's all just conjecture, but maybe it isn't. But as these stories continue to pile up, they begin to gain some legitimacy.

As the saying goes, where there's smoke, there's fire. And something is definitely burning.

The only people waffling over Favre's retirement are people who don't want to see him go.  Favre said on the NFL Network, during the draft, that he had absolutely no interest of coming back and playing another season.  That doesn't really sound like waffling to me.  Of course Favre's agent doesn't want to see him go and will say anything to garner some interest, if nothing else it's publicity for the agent, and if he could somehow or another convince Favre to keep playing the agent will continue to get royalties.

Favre is done.  He has out lived the majority of the QBs that have come into this league, and has a hell of a stat sheet to show for it.  He is a future Hall of Famer with out question, but his NFL playing days are over and done with.  If they aren't, it would be the biggest mistake of Favre's career.

I seriously hope that Brett Favre doesn't come back to another team.  His legacy was born in Green Bay and if he would go to another team then it would all go down the drain.  Not to mention how much he would be hated in Green Bay.  I do agree though that it looks like the Packers don't want him back because looka t all there doing.  They have Aaron Rodgers as a starter now, then they go and pick up Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn in the draft and they are still trying to find a veteran quarterback to back Rodgers up.  I don't get what they are doing but to Brett Favre I have to say if you love football then go ahead and play but try to get into Green Bay and make the cheeseheads proud and win the superbowl!!!!!!

i dont believe he is going to come back. i think the reason he hasnt handed them in yet it because he loves the game so much and it is so hard to call it quits when you love something as much as he loves the game

Fan IQ?  Favre making his interception numbers out of sight?

Anyone notice that the interceptions came as he played with practice squad talent a couple years?  And with some fresh Talent he had an mvp season?

I think whoever wrote that article is having a hard time seeing reality with their head so deep up their $%^&*()

yes. FAVRE STILL WANTS TO PLAY! wasnt that a bit obvious in his press conference? he doesnt want to walk away and he STILL wants to play, but something inside him was telling him NOT to. just because he still wants to play doesnt automatically mean that he is coming back
