From the "Life Isn't Fair" files, we bring you this story of uber-idiot LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux. After being suspended for the third time in two years at LSU last week for missing classes, workouts and at least one team meeting, LSU "This is a team member who is no longer a member of the team in the short term," Miles told reporters. Miles also said Perrilloux's "responsibility is to do everything right and get back on this team."
Nice work, Les. Sound tough while leaving the door wide open for Perrilloux in the process. Perrilloux's other suspensions came from being involved in a fight at a Baton Rouge nightclub (where he allegedly pulled a gun on someone) and the other from allegedly trying to use his brother's drivers license to get onto a casino gambling boat. First one not so funny, second one hilarious. By the way, I wrote about Perrilloux's bar fight suspension at my old blog. I wasn't kind on him or LSU then either. Probably because something about Perrilloux being the only guy who didn't get kicked off the team as a result of the incident didn't sit well with me.
Look, it's my belief that Perrilloux will be starting at QB for LSU in the fall unless he kills someone, and I'm not joking. I would also say that if he raped someone he wouldn't be at quarterback in the fall either, but then again, Jerramy Stevens did that at Washington in 2000 and still played. So yeah, I think it'll take a homicide to keep Perrilloux off the field in the fall.
If you think I'm out of line here, it's just because I'm not happy. Year after year we see talented athletes get second chance after second chance. Some are simply idiots, like Perrilloux, while others are real criminals, like Stevens.
While coaches blab on and on about their student athletes, they don't care about that at all, at least at the major colleges. All they care about is can this guy help me win? If the answer is yes, then keep putting him out on the field until the local public riots against his idiotic/criminal behavior.
Meanwhile, real student athletes who make one minor screw up get the boot because they aren't as valuable.
There's really nothing funny about that at all. It's disgusting is what it is. And worst of all, it won't be changing anytime soon.
