Lessons In Great Parenting: 8-year-old Chinese Girl, Zhang Huimin, Runs 65 KM A DAY
8/28/07

"I have mixed entertainment with training for my daughter, and, plus, she loves running. I did not impose my will on her," her father, an amateur runner himself, was quoted as saying.

"It is worth paying the price and making sacrifices for the glory of the country."

Uh huh. An 8-year girl just decides to get up in the morning a run 65 km every ... single ... day. For those of you scoring at home, that's a marathon AND A HALF.

I, myself, actually do enjoy running. But no one that enjoys running would subject themselves to this punishment. Let alone an 8-year old. Can't you just see the love on her face in this picture!

Some abuse claims have been filed and you'd hardly be surprised by the next nugget of info:
Zhang and his wife separated mainly because she opposed his way of training their daughter, according to the newspaper.
You think?

I have mixed entertainment with training for my daughter

"Yes, she watches the back wheel of my bicycle spinning and that is entertainment for her. I usually put the stale piece of bread that is her dinner on the back of the bike. Sometimes I almost let her catch me and then as she is about to grab the bread, I pull away. A great time is had by all."
