Exactly one year ago, on February 4th, 2012, Jeremy Lin went from being a NBA no name to a NBA household name – not just in America, but throughout the world. That particular Saturday evening was no different than any other day at MSG. The underachieving Knicks were facing their little brother across the Hudson – the New Jersey Nets. But that evening, the New Jersey Nets were going toe-to-toe with their older brother and a frustrated Knicks coach, Mike D’Antoni was searching for anything under heaven for an answer.
So, he looked at the bottom of his bench and inserted Knicks 3rd string point guard - Jeremy Lin.
And that unexpected evening, the inauguration of Linsanity took place.
The hero from Harvard attacked Deron Williams and the Nets for 25 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds as the MSG crowd erupted with chants of “Je-re-my!”
After the game, the humble Lin said, “A little overwhelmed right now. It just hasn’t really sunk in yet, to be honest,” he said. “I’m still kind of in shock by everything that happened.”
Below are some of the highlights from that game one year ago.
