Lions 16, Bears 7: Rex Grossman Dresses Up as Brian Griese for Halloween

Ugh. The Bears QB was wearing #14 but I could have sworn that was Rex Grossman throwing 3 interceptions in the end zone and 4 overall.

It says a lot that the Bears have all of a sudden turned into a passing team which directly equates to the 3-5 record heading into their bye week. Speaking of bye ... bye-bye to the playoffs.

Time to start analyzing quarterbacks for next year's draft. As for the Lions, at 5-2 they remain on pace to fulfill Jon Kitna's prediction of a 10-win season. Do you think they'll get there?

Maybe the Bears fans will finally realize that the entire offense sucks, neither Griese or Grossman can really do anything when you have no running game, an old line, and average receivers.

Eh... theres a lot more talent on that offense than you give them credit for.  Its just that both Greise and Grossman completely suck and have no business starting for any team in the NFL.  That and trading Thomas Jones was stupid.

Not really.  Cedric Benson is pretty bad, and that line hasn't helped him out much either.

Actually, it's Brian Griese and Rex Grossman that make far too many mistakes. It's not the running games fault 3 throws were picked off in the end zone.

But of course, the Bears would be better if they had LaDainian Tomlinson, and All-Pro tackles. Cedric Benson just isn't any good and the defenses is mostly injured. Just not their year.

A lot of those interceptions can be avoided if they have a consistent running game.  When you know you won't be able to punch it on the ground, that causes you to try to force passes that aren't there, thus INT's.

It's unfortunate for them that the D is injured.  And unfortuate for me that my NFC Super Bowl pick will be wrong.

Their recievers are just as good as Green Bay's, their running game is better than Green Bay's, their line is just as good if not better than Green Bay's... the only thing the division leader has better than the Bears is QB.  If the Bears had Kitna or Favre QBing their team they'd be leading the division.

Not a chance.  Driver is MUCH better than anything they have, and Berrian probably isn't much better than Jennings.

Actually, the Packers have more touchdowns and a slightly better YPC (3.3 to 3.2) than the Bears.  The only reason the yardage is so different is because the Packers DON'T run.

their line is just as good if not better than Green Bay's...

The Packers have 5 fewer passing attempts, yet they have allowed 8 fewer sacks.  And the Bears yards-per carry is 3.2.  The Packers is 3.3

Actually, the Packers have a better QB, WR, OL, than the Bears and a comparable defense.

If the Bears had Kitna or Favre QBing their team they'd be leading the division.

Wrong.  No way Favre makes the Bears any better than 3-4.

To keep the point/counterpoint going....

1) Driver has been overrated by fantasy football.  He's a good reciever, but not great.  He just has a great connection with Favre.  No way Berrian is better than Jennings.  Jennings is a slot reciever stuck playing the #2 spot.  Berrian is definitely a legit #2 wideout.  When it comes to TE's Chicago kills us.  Greg Olsen and Desmond Clark would both be starting for the Packers.

2) 3.3 to 3.2... I'd call that even.  Especially when we got half our yards just from the defense being completely surprised that we even bother to run the ball.  Benson sucks but he is much much better than Morency or Jackson, who are nothing but career backups.  Wynn is a nice 3rd down back who is being forced to play more than he should.

3)  Green Bay's line can pass block pretty decently, but can't run block worth crap.  They're God awful when it comes to that.

If I'm being kind to my own team we're even with Chicago at RB and OL, and not even comparable when it comes to recievers.

You under-estimate Driver, who I believe is in the top 10 in terms of NFL receivers.  Tight Ends the Bears are superior, no doubt.

The Bears are obviously a better team than they've played, but thinking that one player can fix an old offensive line, crappy running back, and a defense decimated by defense, is just foolish.

Driver is good, but Steve Smith, Torry Holt, Roy Williams, T.O., Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, and Plaxico Buress are all better.  Thats just off the top of my head and NFC guys.  Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, hes a good player and even better person, but he's not an elite player.

Sure it takes more than one person to make a team, but a one loss team to the north isn't any more talented than the Bears except for one position.  QB is the most important single position in football, and the Bears have nothing that resembles one.  An average QB would make them a playoff team.  An average passing game would help that running game, would make the line look better, and would keep the defense off of the feild.

Driver is better than Burress IMO.

An average QB = Brian Griese.  And look at that, they aren't a playoff team.

And the Packers are more talented at a couple positions.  On top of QB, WR, TE, and the OL, they are also slightly better at corner (Don't get me wrong, Tillman and Vasher are great, but Woodson and Harris IMO are a bit better)

An average QB doesn't make them a playoff team, a great QB maybe could have them at .500.   But when your line and running game sucks, your QB is going to struggle.  That's just football 101.

Alright... I'll make my last points because we're not going to agree. lol

Griese in his prime was an average QB.  He isn't that anymore.  Heck, his INT's have lost two games for the Bears already this year.

We're better at QB and OL but thats about it.  At CB we're close, but when healthy I think I'd take Tillman and Vasher.  You can't really lose either way.

The problem for the Bears is that every defense knows they can put 8 in the box and Griese won't go over the top of them.  Their recievers abilities match Grossman's strong arm, as Berrian is a legit deep threat.  Devin Hester should've started last training camp on offense, and coaching and management deserves all the blame for that.  Hester sucked at CB at Miami and was going to be used as jack of all trades his senior year there.  Everyone knew that, except for Chicago apparently.  Hester could easily be as effective as Bush in the open feild.  It just takes a little bit of creative thinking to do that.  That alone would spread the feild and open up the running lanes.

Yeah, sometimes people just have to agree to disagree.  Although I agree 100% on the points about Devin Hester.

Still don't see the Bears going QB in the Draft, even if they really end up bad this year.  I figure they target someone in free agency.

like who? There's not much there unless McNabb is the answer. Bears had better go QB in the draft AND free agency.

Didn't say the choices were great, but I don't see Bears management drafting QB in the 1st round.
