Fortunately, due to the Cubs playoff clinching on Friday night I've been numbed to the mistakes of my other teams over the weekend.
Thus a record breaking 4th quarter offensive performance by the Detroit Lions against what used to be a good defense isn't fazing me.
Total lie! I tried to convince myself, but it's not working. This is awful. What on earth happened today?
The Detroit Lions broke an NFL record with 34 points in the 4th quarter and none of those can be attributed to Rex Grossman. Jon Kitna threw 2 touchdown passes, Kevin Smith intercepted a Brian Griese pass for TD, Kevin Jones rushed for a score and then to cap it all off Casey FitzSimmons took a last ditch onside kick to the house. Lions 3-1, Bears 1-3.
For Detroit, all is well. Jon Kitna is living up to his preseason "nonsense." 10 wins still seems high, but above all else, the Lions are NFC North contenders. For Chicago, it's going to be an ugly week. Who starts at QB? Who's healthy on defense? I hate the idea of switching QB's again since Brian Griese hasn't played in two years, but let's give Kyle Orton his shot before going back to Rex as a last ditch effort. What do you think?
Worst of all, Roy Williams comments this week proved to be right. "I don't see what the big deal is with Chicago." You and me both, Roy.
