With just 48 hours remaining in the transfer window men at Anfield are desperate to sign in a striker. Manager, Kenny Dalglish is frantically searching for forward to add to his squad. Rumor has it that the American owner of Liverpool and Red Sox, John W. Henry has allotted Dalglish with as much as £40 million to bring a top class player to the Merseyside.
Interestingly this is the same amount of money that Napoli’s coveted striker Edinson Cavani has on his price tag. However that deal seems to be out of question now that the Uruguayan has shown his loyalty to Napoli.
This has coerced King Kenny to assess other striking options and there is one player that stands out and he is known as the “German Messi”.
According to reports flying in from Europe, Liverpool is chasing 22-year-old German football prodigy, Marko Marin. The exciting winger, who can play as a forward and as an attacking midfielder is a great utility player but that’s not what attracts Dalglish.
Marin’s ability to provide assists and score goals is what’s causing interest from Reds camp. Analysts have concluded that the Werder Bremen star, who has been compared to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi because of similar game play will cost around £18 million.
The Bundesliga star is ready to leave Germany for England, however there is competition rising from other English outfits too. Tottenham Hotspurs is the main contender for Liverpool. Manager Harry Redknapp is eager to bring more guns into White Hart Lane.
Inter Milan are also interested in acquiring Marin’s services but the forward is more interested in joining English Premier League than a move to Serie A, Italy.
With victories over Manchester City (Carling Cup) and Manchester Untied (FA Cup) Liverpool has gained an edge over Spurs. With the deadline for transfers creeping closer by the second, the Reds are in for another last minute signing.
