Liverpool overpower Arsenal to sign in Real Madrid star Nuri Sahin
There has been a surprising new turn of events in the transfer saga of Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin. Reports emanating from Spain suggest the Turkish international is now being heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.
Arsenal has led the race to sign in Nuri Sahin for the past couple of weeks. As a matter of fact Arsenal was merely whiskers away from landing Nuri Sahin in London, but a last minute swoop from Liverpool has upset their bid for the young central midfielder.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has also confirmed that the Reds have entered the race to sign Nuri Sahin through a season long loan deal from Real Madrid.
Nuri Sahin is fed up with his stay at Santiago Bernabeu, although he inked a long term contract with Real Madrid just last year. The 23-year-old has failed to break into Real Madrid’s first team.
Nuri Sahin has made only 10 appearances for Real Madrid last season. Moreover, most of these appearances were off the bench. Nuri Sahin scored one goal and provided one assist last season.
The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder came to Real Madrid after recording phenomenal form during the 2010-11 season in the Bundesliga, where he scored eight goals and provided 13 assists in 40 appearances.
Arsenal showed interest in signing Nuri Sahin last summer as well, but a large bid from Real Madrid destroyed Arsenal’s hopes of acquiring Nuri Sahin.
Liverpool are trying to pull off a similar stunt. The Reds are offering higher wages and a better contract for Nuri Sahin to Real Madrid. Moreover, Brendan Rodgers is reminding Real Madrid of all the favors and players Liverpool has offered to Real Madrid in the past.
Brendan Rodgers believes Nuri Sahin’s arrival at Anfield is imminent. The new Liverpool manager hasn’t disclosed his strong reasons for such belief, but Nuri Sahin has indeed snubbed a switch to Arsenal.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is trying to resolve the issue, but he is aware that Liverpool will overpower them financially.
Rumor has it that the Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is eager to send Nuri Sahin to work with Brendan Rodgers. More information on Nuri Sahin’s transfer saga will be revealed in the next 24 hours.
“Hopefully in the next 24 hours we will get some confirmation on that. It's quite far along. He's a very good footballer,” Brendan Rodgers informed following Liverpool’s victory against Hearts.
