Liverpool seal the deal for young Sevilla star Luis Alberto
Liverpool Football Club have officially signed in the latest football prodigy from Spain, Luis Alberto Romero. The young Spain Under-21 star, who recorded phenomenal form playing for Barcelona B last season, created a lot of hype during the European Under-21 Championship in Israel this summer.
Luis Alberto has shown maturity beyond his years, which is why the 20-year-old has already made seven appearances for Sevilla. Reports indicate Luis Alberto has inked a long term contract with Liverpool after the youngster passed the medical tests at the club.
The youngster, who hails from Sevilla’s football academy, is the latest part of Brendan Rodgers’ attempt to revive Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers is also expected to sign in Manchester City defender Kolo Toure on free transfer in the next couple of weeks. The transfers of Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas are also expected to be completed in the next couple of days. Liverpool have already signed in Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Luis Alberto scored 11 goals and provided 17 assists in 38 appearances for Barcelona B last season. The young forward claims he is very happy to have signed in for the Reds and hopes to record better form at the club.
“I feel like I'm in a bubble at the moment. For me Liverpool is a top team. I feel like I am dreaming and I want to enjoy it to the full,” Luis Alberto told Liverpool official website. “I feel very excited, I've never felt so excited before but I'm very happy. I think I am the happiest man on earth.
“I was surprised [when Liverpool showed interest in me]. You never expect this to happen to you. But as the deal moved forward, I became very happy and I wanted to come to Liverpool. I have come here to enjoy moments with the supporters - and I know the supporters will help me to never walk alone.
“I hope that between us all we can make this club one of the greatest in the world, once again.”
Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers hailed his latest signing and complimented the youngster’s ability to adapt play styles quickly. Brendan Rodgers believes Luis Alberto will become a huge asset for the club in the future.
“We are all delighted that Luis has decided to join Liverpool,” Brendan Rodgers said. “He has the correct footballing profile and mentality to be a Liverpool player. “I look forward to working with him to develop his talent and he joins a group of young exciting players at our club.”
